Die Neuesten Nachrichten: 5th April 2008

1. Cecilia Cheung carries baby to visit Nic Tse in Thailand – Chinese news source, here. (pic left)

Nicholas Tse is in Thailand to shoot “Feng Yun 2” (Wind Cloud 2, not sure what the English title is haha) and had not been expecting this surprise visit. One wonders if Nic Tse himself hadn’t been looking forward to some time alone, away from all that HK-scandal madness and then suddenly, wife and kid come tottering along, together with a whole troupe of paparazzi.

2. Takizawa Hideaki plays a female role in his upcoming “Takizawa Performance City 2008” -[滝沢演舞城 08] – Japanese news source- Daily Sports.

The details of his new project was announced officially yesterday. Although it is not his first time taking on a female role (he’d done this before in 2006), this time round will be the first time that he’s using white-makeup and portraying a 流女形 type of girl. Couldn’t find it in 3 dictionaries but from the Kanji (Chinese meaning) it seems like it could mean a “loose” girl? Either that or some free-spirited girl. Anyway, Takky said that the work was hard and he has to be careful when performing.

3. Rain beings international PR Tour for “Speed Racer” on May 8th – English news source : KBS Global World News

I feel like Rain got the bad end of the deal, from the article:

“Hollywood actors are promoting the movie on various talk shows [in the United States] but in Asia, no one is as popular as Rain so we are expecting a great response from his promotions of the film here,” announced a representative of Warner Brothers.

So like, his break into Hollywood ends up bringing him back to Asia, promoting a Western movie in which he plays a minimal role with minimal air time. He’s totally being controlled by western $$ to further their interests, without really doing much for his own. Plus it makes him open to all the ridicule that permeates the Kpop/K-drama audiences heaped upon all-those-people-who-wanna-break-into-Hollywood. Do it the Nino-way! Actually I don’t think Nino even cares about Hollywood… I don’t know. (For the record, I’m talking about Arashi’s Ninomiya Kazunari in Letters from Iwo-Jima – then again chances like these are few and far between.) Off to do my essay! *sian*

so wat if a wife goes over to visit her husband with her child. she just wanted to give him a surprise tat’s all.
why these papers always like to put words into picture that might not be the true story. dun believe too much in papers unless the person himself talks about it.

I came upon this quite accidentally while looking for something else, but a quick correction to your second note, since I think you’ve commented on Takizawa Hideaki playing female roles twice:
That kanji is “onnagata”, which is merely the female role in kabuki theater style. He’s been studying it for a few years now, and has done it both on stage and on screen. He really likes the historical stuff, and is starting to get quite a bit of respect in traditional theater circles for tackling it, since most onnagata performers start studying it during childhood. (See Saotome Taichi, who has a MASSIVE following in the circles and has a sort of niche celebrity status.)

Hope this isn’t unwanted info. XD

  3. to whitney: hey no that’s really interesting!!! thanks for telling me this, but in which dorama/film has he done onnagata? (you mentioned on screen) just curious! thanks again!!! ^_^

  4. 4 rian

have any of you seen stephen colbert diss rain on his show which culminated weeks/months later to a dance-off? it’s in youtube, it’s hilarious. stephen colbert calls rain his nemesis because rain beat him in Time’s top 100 most influential people (online poll).

  5. Your style is very unique compared to other folks I have read stuff from.

Thanks for posting when you’ve got the opportunity, Guess I’ll just book mark this blog.
